Cushioning and ride

The Brooks Ghost Max 4 uses a high stack of nitrogen-infused DNA LOFT v3 cushioning to provide a soft and protective feel beneath the foot. The cushioning helps spread pressure across the platform while maintaining a balanced and smooth ride.

Its 6mm heel-to-toe drop works with the GlideRoll™ Rocker to actively assist forward movement. The curved geometry helps the foot transition from landing towards toe-off with less reliance on flexibility through the forefoot.

Stability and support

Although the Ghost Max 4 does not use Brooks’ GuideRails™ support system, its broad base and straight, high-volume platform provide inherent stability underfoot.

The shoe is best understood as a protective neutral model rather than a traditional stability shoe. It may suit runners and walkers who want a stable feeling without firm medial posting or corrective support elements.

Fit and feel

The women’s standard B width offers an accommodating and higher-volume fit through the midfoot and forefoot. Its roomy construction can comfortably suit a wide variety of foot shapes and many orthotics.

The engineered mesh upper provides breathable flexibility while helping hold the heel securely in place. The toe shape is slightly more streamlined than the previous version but still offers a comfortable everyday fit.

The Ghost Max 4 may suit runners who want more cushioning, space and rocker assistance than the Brooks Ghost 18 while retaining a neutral and stable everyday ride.
